ABOUT ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
Welcome,
For more than 125 years St. John Ambulance has served communities across Canada with the vision to enable Canadians to improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing community services and first aid training.
Today, St. John Ambulance has over 20,000 volunteers across the country contributing over one million hours of community service. Whether they are administering first aid to the injured at a public event, bringing the companionship of a dog to residents of a long term care facility, or inspiring a young person to be a better citizen, St. John Ambulance makes invaluable contributions to their local community. When Canadians need them, our volunteers are there to answer the call.

Our History
In 1883 in Quebec City, the first Canadian branch of St. John Ambulance to teach first aid courses was established. Shortly thereafter courses were being offered in Kingston, Ontario. In the next 10 years, St. John Ambulance grew to be a national organization and in 1892 it had 12 branches teaching first aid from coast-to-coast. In those early years, alongside the continued growth in first aid training, St. John Ambulance also began a proud tradition of volunteer work in our communities. Soon the volunteers of St. John became a common and welcome sight in times of emergency in communities across the country.
